Resolution To A Subplot

February 9, 2009

New Bleakly! I don’t even know how I feel about the whole project anymore, but it feels good to have as much done as I do. I know I want to give Hannah a much bigger part in the story, so I’m gonna have to do a lot of revision and rewriting. I’m considering some options. My feeling is that at this point, just wrapping up the story as best I can and then expanding as necessary may be my best option. I could probably make it half again as long as it is now just by catching up on Hannah in all the places I should. In fact, I may just start telling her side of the story for a while. Don’t worry though, I know what I want to happen at City Hall (is that a terrible, terrible name for a building? I mean, a privately owned building. Owned by a guy named City.) I don’t know! But if Ari ever comes back for real, I’ll probably ask him for extensive help editing it.

Anyhow. Thanks for reading.

September 24, 2008

I have to write the next installment of Bleakly.

I know what happens, and you don’t, which is why you can’t write it for me.

If I was more popular I’d have a contest or something and see who can BS the best guest installment.

I’ll write the next installment when I’m not in class. And after I work out. Hopefully it goes up tonight.

Words, words, words.

September 15, 2008

Today’s episode of Bleakly can be found here.

What’s going to happen? If anyone knows email me at thomas.bleakly at gmail.com. No, seriously, somebody tell me. I need to know so I can write it.

Also, how the hell do you know my characters and do you know how I can get in touch with them? Thanks in advance.

Guess what time it is?

September 12, 2008

It’s time for a tasty little drop of Bleakly.

More inbound to hit sporadically over the weekend, as I’ve finally outlined the upcoming subplots to the degree I feel happy with them.

I love all you guys and I promise I’m gonna write for you more. ‘Cause it’s fun for you (hopefully) and fun for me (definitely.)

Is There A Whipped Egg?

June 22, 2008

So I was commenting on Gryfft’s last post but this deserved to be its own entry. I was thinking about the term “hard-boiled detective” and I thought (and I’m sure I’m not the first): why can’t there be detectives who are better described by other egg types?

Bleakly is as Bleakly Does (4)

June 16, 2008

I fumbled around in my desk, working through the clutter to find my pen and well-worn notebook.

“Take it from the top, toots,” I said, riffling past the used pages and readying my pen.

For all her tears a few minutes earlier, she was cool now. Collected. Her gaze was firm, if tear-reddened.

Bleakly 1

June 10, 2008

It was a quiet night. At least, it was as quiet a night as this city ever saw; post-rush-hour traffic whispered raucously through the blinds, squabbled, honked, screamed, sirens occasionally shouting down the rest of the din… but at least no gunshots. Not yet.
