Silent Night

After the night people collapse but before the morning people begin, when our Earth is perfectly quiet, she thinks she hears: “I miss you. Please come back to me.” In this window of silence, the night becomes an ocean and she wants to sing like the whales, cross the miles between them and answer: “No.”

And yes, this is a 55-word story based on a 27-word story based on an almost-100-word story. Unsurprisingly considering I wrote it, the 55 may be the strongest.
